Insight of Diversity as a Paradigm of the Women’s Movement

Thursday, 10 May 2018 IMM, Ikatan Mahasiswa Muhammadiyah or association of Muhammadiyah student, hold a seminar for immawati or female students. The speakers ware Denty Eka Widi Pratiwi and Sri Gunarti. They spoke about ‘insight of diversity as a paradigm of the women’s movement’.

Mrs. Denty emphasized about how to improve the role of women in eradicating social problem. She said about women were identical with heart and graceful. They are considered one step behind than men. Actually, the position between women and men were almost same. This condition happens because the women fight for the aspirations of women, for instance they could fight their aspiration about the nature of women. Women’s duties were not only doing house work and taking care their children, but also developing their abilities, for example they worked as a teacher or lecturer, etc.

And then the second speaker was Mrs. Sri Gunarti. She said almost same with Mrs. Denty. It was about the efforts to increase the role of women in eradicating social problem. ”when we are an activist, we have to become good activist so we can give inspiration to other people to be better. Then have to take part of politics, they have to know about religion and social policy” said Mrs. Sri.

IMM hold the events for 4 days. It was from 10-13 May 2018. And the event of Silatda imawati was held at pendopo of purworejo regency. The host were Susi and Melia. And the structure of the event started with opening;  reading Al-Quran by Lutfah; singing Indonesia raya song; then mars of Muhammadiyan and IMM; reading poetry by disability student; greeting from Muhammadiyah Purworejo University by Faid, chairman of DPP IMM Central Jave, immawan Abdul Wahid, chairman of DPM Purworejo, region leader of Central Java by Danung Danadi, executor of the Javanese governor’s duties, and then closing. Then continue with a national dialog with Denty Eka Widi Pratiwi, S.E., M.H. and Dra. Hj. Sri Gunarti, S.H., M.H.

How to Encourage English Department Students to Speak English more Often and Confidently

Speaking English is very important for English Department Students. It could bring good effects if they always practice it every day. In fact, many English department student not using English in their speaking, especially in their class. Actually there are so many activity can make student more often and confident to speak English.
Firstly, make students into groups than give an interesting game. For example broad race game. Divide the class into two teams each standing in line at the board. Give them a topic like food and drink, sports, countries etc. The student at the front on each line runs to the board and must write a word in this lexical set beginning with A on the board. She then hands the marker to the next person in the row (and runs to the back of the line), who adds a word beginning with B until they reach Z. If they cannot think of a word beginning with a particular letter they can leave a space, but the team with most words at the end is the winner.

Second, watching film. Learning from films is delightful. Film not only can help student to know how to pronounce word, but also can increase vocabulary of the students. Watching film make students to know language variety. They can learn Australian English from Australian film, Indian English from Indian film, etc. It also can help students to know about the culture of them.

Third, reading English book. We can give reading text to the student. It can provide opportunities to speak English. For example it can increase vocabulary, grammar, punctuation and the way we construct sentence, paragraph and texts. We should give reading text depend on who the student are. It can make them cozy to speak English.

Forth, listening English audio. For example English songs or conversation. Sing their favorite song can make their fluently to speak English because most of the students like singing. Not only for listening English songs but also listening English conversation can make the student confident to speak English. It can help the student to know about the culture of the others country.

Fifth, practice speaking English. After reading and listening something, students have to practice apart of it in front of the others. They have to know the meaning of it, how to pronoun it, and how to spell it. Most of expert said that practice make perfect. If the student get used to it they will be confident and they can speak English fluently. And we can give prize to the best student.

Sixth, we can ask to students to download games application for learning English. For example Hello English, Duolingo and others. Most of the students like to play game, so it can be good way to make their speaking English to be better.

About us
The growth of the mosque in this decade is so many. Many Muslim people built new mosques, while the old mosques are renovated by them. Certainly, we as Muslims are very happy and proud with this condition.
However, in the other hand there were children learning Quran activity in the mosque. this condition is very apprehensive and become our reflection.
Started from some people’s concern, then we hold a meeting at the At-Taqwa Mosque which is located at Wingkoharjo village on September 2017. The result of this meeting was the establishment of At- Taqwa Al-Quran educational park. The age of students of the Al-Quran educational park is around 4-12 years old. To support the learning process, we always held a meeting every month with the parents of the students.
We hope the existence and the development of At-Taqwa Educational Park give positive
impact for the children and their parent to love Islam. For us to memomize and act on every verse we
recite so that they can ascend in Jannah. The prophet (SallaAllahu ‘alayhi wasallam) said, “It is
said to the one who recites the Qur’an, recite and ascend, and read like
you used to read in the dunya, for your place (in Jannah) is at the last
verse you recite” [Reported in Abu Dawud and Tirmidhi]
Aamiin Yaa Rabbal ‘alamiin.

Wingkoharjo

Wingkoharjo is a name of village. It is in Purworejo city. A long time ago there was a king the name Awu Awu Langit and his wife Raden Rara Wetan or Nyai Bagelen. They have three children. They worked as farmers and weaver. One day on Tuesday Wage, when Nyai Bagelen was waving, her children were playing beside her. She was surprised that she was breastfeeding a calf. She asked to her husband but she got bad answer. Then she was angry and she pushed the loom to the granary. Then tumbled down the tiles to the west of the kingdom. And then people call the area wingko which means broken tile. Wingko divided into 5 village. that are Wingkoharjo, Wingko Sanggrahan, Wingko Sigro, Wingko Mulyo and Wingko Tinumpuk.

Wingkoharjo is the smallest village. It is around 85 hectare. The population is around 600 peoples. It is about 30 minutes from Purworejo. The road lead to there is good, but sometimes you will find hole in the road. The road is very beautiful because there are so many tree beside the road.

Wingkoharjo is a small village, but it has many facilities like a beautiful mosque, an elementary school, kindergarten school, and a place to check health. The mosque was built in 2010. The name is Masjid At-Taqwa. It is used to studying Al-Quran every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.

In the north, east, and south of this village surrounded by rice fields with the beautiful scenery. We can see Sumbing mountain in the north, mountains in the east. If you go to Wingko in the weekend you can meet some people who is jogging in the morning. Wingko is a cool village because there are still many trees and less pollution.

BARCODE

3 years ago, I worked at DRW Skincare in Purworejo. I worked as an administration staff. And I had a friend, her name was Tika, she worked in the shipping department. She asked me to stick barcodes in the package that will be sent. When I stuck the package, Tika told about her holiday in the beach with her friend. Then, I finished to stick the package. It was around 15 minutes later postman came to put the package.

2 days later, someone call Tika that there was a discrepancy between barcode and the address. Then, she blamed me. I tried to call the postman and said to return the package. But, it was useless. It made me scared. Finally, I asked to dr. Wahyu who was the owner of DRW Skincare about the problem and he said that I have to call the customer to clarify about the problem. Then I searched the number phone and I called the customer. When I called , I heard that a woman answered my call. I was afraid that she angry with me. But, she was very kind and she would return the package.

The next day, she called me and said that she have returned the package to me. I was very grateful and a few days later her order arrived.

Dear kak mey,

Last week I looked at many photo in my laptop and I found our photo when we took 4 years ago.

On the 24th August 2014 I, you and our friends have made a plan to go to Pangandaran Beach. We needed a long time to plan it, because we have to search the right travel agent. We started from Jakarta at 10 P.M. We arrived in Pangandaran at 5 A.M. We never bored on the way, because you always made joke. After we arrived there, we rented a house near the beach. I, you, Imel and Vita were in the same room. The first day in Pangandaran we were to Green Canyon for rafting. Actually I was scared because the river was deep enough and I couldn’t swim. You always gave motivation to others, so it made me brave to do this. In the afternoon, we rented a boat to go to white sand beach. We would play snorkeling there. The guide thought me how to snorkel, but it was failed. And the guide was angry with me. Then, you invited me to learn together. It didn’t take a long time and finally I could play snorkeling. In the evening we searched restaurant because we was very hungry. We found it in the seashore. After that, we walked around the beach looked for souvenir. We bought clothes, trousers, veil, salted fish and others. And then we went home in the next day.

After all, that was my great experience I had ever have.

Your best friend,

Sari
